Focus Group

Image
1. Do you enjoy listening to Britpop music? 2. What do you particularly like about the music? 3. What are your opinions on the song 'Wonderwall'? 4. If you've seen the music video for Wonderwall, what do you like about it? 5. What do you think is key in order to replicate a successful Britpop music video? 6. Do you think there should be a narrative story throughout the music video?   During our meeting, we decided that it would be a good idea to form a focus group so we can ask our target audience personally what they think of our song choice and what we can include on order to make it more appealing and create a professional look. From this focus group, we found out that they en=joy the song and they highlighted to us that it is important for us to include and consider timing of when the video was set so that we don't 'modernise' it. Parental Advisory Label

The  Parental Advisory  label  is a warning label first introduced by the   Recording Industry Association of America  (RIAA) in 1985 and later adopted by the  British Phonographic Industry  (BPI) in 2011. It is placed on audio recordings in recognition of excessive profanities or inappropriate references, with the intention of alerting parents of potentially unsuitable material for younger children. After deciding our chosen song it meant that we had to produce research into provisional aadvisory warnings. I have analysed the lyrics the lyrics our song '400 lux' and have found that there is no explicit language featuring in the song so we do not have t provide the label in production of the music video and digipak.

Artist name research

The name of an artist is a big part of their overall success; if they are called a name which is relevant and current to their target audience then their success is much more likely to occur. In order to come up with a name for our artist, we have to look closely at existing and also past Britpop music artists, particularly Male bands, in order to come up with a good name for our group. They originated as ‘The Rain’ then Noel told Liam to let him join the band. Noel was a roadie for Inspiral Carpets and they had a gig at the Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon.  Brother Liam, who had come along to the gig, was taken with the name "Oasis", and he suggested to Noel that it would make a good name for them to set up their own band, which at the time was called The Rain.
