Filming Log- session 3- Balmoral Road

Image
On the 6th of January we took our footage at Balmoral Road in Altrincham. We met together at around 1pm and started filming around 10 minutes after setting up for shots and reviewing what needed to be done with the use of our storyboards and lyric sheet notes that we created in our spare time this was to make sure that we got good shots of the videos that we needed. After taking these shots we then began on focusing on filming Jack Davenport on the guitar to get various shots and angles of him. This was key as the guitar is the main instrument within the song and we used this as an opportunity to get some good close-ups of him playing it. We performed many low angle and long shots with the use of the guitar to ultimately emphasise the importance that it has. In most of the shots Jack D is holding the guitar and to we tried to differentiate the use of  angles that we used to make sure it was not the same each time.  Around 20 minutes after we started to film myself in various shot

Filming Log - Session 2 - Smith's Field, Altrincham

We recorded a small percentage of our footage on the 29th of December 2017 on Smith's Field in Tiperley. We met at 12pm and then started our filming around 10 minumtes or so later after discussing what we were going to be doing, where we were going to stand, which shots we would be using and setting the camera up. Throughout the shoot we filmed many different shots at different angles and various places within the location to help gain the best possible scenes with the use of the best natural lighting possible to fit with the genre conventions. We wanted to video to look highly professional and also match the narrative of the Bathes code and binary oppositions of locations which will take place later on. This was all based off our story board and also the order of the shots which we decided to do in order to help portray the image we were trying to create. Furthermore, due to the different shots we wanted in chronological order that we had wrote down and prepared helped us to sav

Practice shots

These shots are ultimately taken in order to Medium close-up Close-up Low Angle shot Establishing shot  Over the shoulder shot Extreme close-up Whilst we were in the common room we decided we should practice some of the shots in which we will using in our music video. These shots ultimately relate to specific angles that we will be recreating in the different locations which we visit. We have taken these to gain potential ideas of which different shots look the best for different situations and locations but mainly due to the fact that we can use different movements to portray the lyrics within the song and also convey ideas through the use of the camera aswell as the characters. All the shots in which we have taken will be used throughout out our music video to help illustrate the narrative and also reflect the conventions of the Britpop genre to the maximum potential.

Live performance- Liam Gallagher- Filming Log- Session 1

Image
Previously, I went to watch Liam Gallagher in concert at the O2 Ritz in Manchester. We can use this video within our final product as audio or for the visuals depending on the decision which we make as a group. Luke took the video whilst we were there and it was a great opportunity to physically see Liam as a singular artist due to the splitting of the band in 2009. We can use this video to our advantage as it shows the popularity that they still hold. As a group we capitalised on the opportunity to use the clip to show the ultimate effects they still have on their fans and also how we can use this on our final product to represent the idea of a live performance. However, one of the main negatives is the singing and chanting from the crowd which will not be as clear as the professional studio audio which we will be using to replicate the lip syncing which occurs within the song.

This involves us starting and finishing at around roughly the selected times as they are the times everyone in the group can come together. It is highly important that we gather footage of Liam Gallagher performing due to the fact that we are using a live performance within our music video so it is essential to understand how he acts on stage in contradiction to how he is during the narrative. We will be performing lots of our scenes on Smith's field ally-way and also the a

Location research

Image
MEN Arena: This location research was done when we went to watch Liam Gallagher perform Wonderwall live at the concert. We have also tried to incorporate this footage into our music video to show a difference between narrative and also live performance.  Smith's Field: We chose this exact location due to the accessibility that it had: it was close to the tram line aswell as having an artificial setting and urban features which helped to portray the binary opposition we were trying to portray. Our binary opposition is working class vs upper class which we are trying to convey through the different locations and setting. It helped to bring about conventions too because of these very distinct features. Balmoral Road: This are was seen as an opportunity to display the ultimate urban qualities within our video and the very secluded and enclosed back streets helped to portray a stereotypical urban area. The long brick wall helps exaggerate this as we have incorporated it

Storyboard

Image
The storyboard which we are using is a rough idea of the shots which we will be taking to make our music video professional and naturalistic in comparison to the Britpop genre, this was also paired with a lyric sheet which was annotated with all the different shots and ideas we would use, as well as propps, angles and uses of lighting which will be used during the making of our video. During the recording of the session we will use this plan as the basis of our recording will refer back to it to make sure we stay on track.
