Filming Log- session 3- Balmoral Road

On the 6th of January we took our footage at Balmoral Road in Altrincham. We met together at around 1pm and started filming around 10 minutes after setting up for shots and reviewing what needed to be done with the use of our storyboards and lyric sheet notes that we created in our spare time this was to make sure that we got good shots of the videos that we needed.

After taking these shots we then began on focusing on filming Jack Davenport on the guitar to get various shots and angles of him. This was key as the guitar is the main instrument within the song and we used this as an opportunity to get some good close-ups of him playing it. We performed many low angle and long shots with the use of the guitar to ultimately emphasise the importance that it has. In most of the shots Jack D is holding the guitar and to we tried to differentiate the use of angles that we used to make sure it was not the same each time.

Around 20 minutes after we started to film myself in various shots as an individual. We had a hard time of trying to include myself as a band member due to not having access to a set of drums so therefore we had to improvise each time. I was included to show my presence in the band which took around 10-15 minutes to complete but in order to help the band I took it upon myself to complete a lot of the different shots and angles whilst Jack and Luke were in the shots.

Moreover, we returned to Luke lip syncing Wonderwall in the individual and groups shots. This was important as it was key to create the idea that we were a band after the lack of footage of us all together at the Smith's field shoot. These shots included a variety of close-ups, mid shots and long shots both as Luke as an individual but also as a band member. When this was completed we decided on doing many tacking shots using my car to follow Luke walking and signing the song, we came up with this idea so that we could get a good and stable shot which was not possible any other way.

Furthermore, during the filming of our video we wore the same clothes to put into effect the Britpop genre convention of fashion and also the attire which was worn. Additionally, we used the same brick wall as a key shot for the son ad also the long road to highlight the urban qualities. We also left the camera running in certain shots and assigned places for us to stand so that we can cut the parts out of us talking and create a teleportation effect.

This was was made to summarise what we had recorded on this day and also to highlight our intentions for each of the different shots. This can be used in the future when editing and also help to portray what we were trying to represent in the music videos. More important it was a way of displaying the different conventions we are trying to show our audience.
