Genre conventions of a music video
In my research I found that
Many music videos are low budget with an urban back drop to
the artist performing in the video. By using a simple back drop the audience as
it associates them with the music. This is an element I know that we can simply
achieve, as we live amongst a similar environment therefore it is easily
accessible and also we can create the same view.
Genre conventions of a music video are the most important to use when creating and planning a music video as they can help us reach higher grades and make the video look more proffessional and visually pleasing to the audience.
How do we recognise this genre?
Performance elements-
It is important that we can try and replicate this for our final music video as a variety of successful bands use this technique to show the links between the Britpop genre, Many bands also include this element as it suggests that it will help to improve the quality of their videos.
Low-key lighting-
We need to use low-key lighting within our music videos as it ultimately helps establish the band members to the audience and evidently the more important band members are normally within the spot light and the other members, which usually play the instruments are pictured in the background which is usually dark. By replicating this it will help be able to create the same style as other Britpop music videos
Colours-
Throughout researching different colours in which are used in Britpop music videos, we came across the common colours which are red, white and blue. These colours are used to show the patriarchy of their country (The UK). Many performers also use these colours to defeat the view that Britpop is just a copy of America's 'alternative rock' genre. Additionally, the clothes they wear are very vibrant and flashy, therefore this intrigues other audiences members.
