Edting Log - Session 5

Firstly, in our latest session we listened to feedback which we had been given from the fourth session. This is due to the fact that our target was to include more band member shots. However, the group agreed and got rid of this target as we had a time restraint and both me and Luke had work later on that evening. Instead we decided that it would be more beneficial to lip sync the part of Luke singing the corus to the end of the song. We left some gaps in order to inlude other shots including ones of then band together later on. We made this decision to do this as it was best to get the hardest part of our work out of the way and then fix the smaller things in the later sessions which will gradually bring up our marks but also help make the video relative to the narrative.

Some negatives which we took away from the session was that Luke's lip syncing did not match the lyrics of the song so therefore we needed to change some of it so it that it would work together. Furthermore, we used most of the lip syncing which we could before it became harder to recognise what Luke was saying and covered this with shots of the group and Lucy. We used the cut and blade tool parts which were relative and used these to match it with the audio of the song. I personally believe that it turned out really well for the group and created more shots of the band to be included which will help impress our target audience. It was also a way in which we could display our narrative and also highlight the importance of the other shots.

All in all, i think that this session has helped us to do in our final session as a way to iron out the smaller aspects of the music video also make changes to the lip syncing. With the help of the variety of tools Final Cut has to offer we could overcome the main obstacles such as the timing, lip syncing and movement of shots. By overcoming the hardest segment of our video it was key for us to make the final session much easier and was a massive step forward in completing the video as we now have a main focus on what to do next time.
